Get to Know Google+ Brand Pages
So, you've set up your company's Facebook page, Twitter feed, and maybe even a YouTube channel to really engage your customer base. You're involved in social media, but like everything in the online world, nothing stays static and new platforms are continuously emerging.
The newest player in the social media scene? Google+ (G+). More specifically, G+ Brand Pages, where companies can now create and manage their presence within Google's social network.
What does this mean for your company?
Well, in just two months since the launch of G+ Pages, 77 of the top 100 brands now have G+ Pages, while 93 of the top 100 have Facebook Pages.* So while Facebook is still the 'go-to' social media platform for many, G+ is making a good showing despite its relative newness.
If your company currently has a social media following, chances are part of your audience base, and potentially new audiences will be engaged through G+.
Starting a G+ Page
1. Setup a Google account. It's free, fast, and like many other social networks, you'll need to set up a personal account before you create your business page. Go ahead - get started create your account here: www.plus.google.com
2. Setup you company's G+ Page. Log in with your Google account here http://www.google.com/+/business/ and follow the steps to create your company page. Yes, it's that simple - and now your company is on on G+!
Making the most of your G+ Page
As with any social media tool, you need to invest your time and continually work to engage your followers. Remember - you and your customer's social media experience, regardless of platform, is all about two-way conversation. Be open, engage often, and value those who value your brand!
